Viper Rooms in Kingston is closed for good.

It is the latest casualty in a tough year for hospitality.

In a Facebook post the night club announced:

"It's with a heavy heart, Viper Kingston is no more...

"Everyone knows that today marks a year since the first lockdown, little did we know a year later all late night venues would still be closed, it's a sad day for viper family and night time entertainment that we are closing ours doors for good

"We would like to thank everyone who made Viper what it is.. big thanks to all the Staff, DJ's, Doorman, Cleaners, Toilet attendants and all the Unsung hero's - we could go on and on.

"We will miss you all! It's the end of an era."

Over the years, the venue overlooking the Thames became a hotspot for university students with regular club nights on weekdays and weekends.

Opened as part of the Kingston Riverside development by Kingston Bridge, the club sat alongside Kingston's outdoor restaurants and bars.

The company that owned Viper Rooms has two Yorkshire based clubs it hopes to reopen in June.
