Fashion retailer Urban Outfitters has hinted it will open a new store in Kingston, with a planning application submitted to the council.

The high street brand has asked for planning permission to put up new signs on the former Anthropologie unit at Market Place.

The application submitted to Kingston Council says: "It is proposed to install a new non illuminated facia sign, centred above the shop entrance doors in the facia area.

"The sign shall consist of 25mm thick and 305mm high single letters reading 'URBAN OUTFITTERS'.

"The total length of the sign shall be 2,800mm.

"The individual letters are fixed to the facia with spacing pegs, leaving a space of ca. 35mm between facia and backside of the letters."

It says the lettering style will be simple but bold.

Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie are both under the URBN uumbrella.

The application does not say when the new store would open.

Currently the town's nearest store is in Shepherd's Bush.

The building dates back to the 1880's, but was rebuilt at the start of the 20th century by Boots.

See the full application here.

Urban Outfitters has been approached for comment.
