Two fire engines tackle blaze in Surbiton

Two fire engines tackled a blaze on Surbiton's Sainsbury's third-floor car park yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 20 May).

Firefighters attended the scene after the fire alarm was triggered at the Victoria Road supermarket at 3.31pm.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Two fire engines were called at 1531 to a small rubbish fire on the third floor of a car park on Victoria Road yesterday (20 May). 

"Fire crews from Surbiton and Kingston fire stations attended the scene and the fire was under control by 1551. 

"A nearby shop was evacuated as a precaution."
