Permanently moored boat in Kingston could become cafe and restaurant

A licensing application has been submitted to Kingston council to use a permanently moored boat at Town End Pier as a café and restaurant.
Turk Launches Limited, a Thames river boat company, seeks permission to use The Aphrodite as a café and restaurant where alcohol will only be sold and consumed with substantial food.
In an application document, Turk Launches said: "The aim is to bring together the traditions of the River Thames and the vibrant café and eating scene in Kingston Upon Thames to create a comfortable, friendly and relaxing atmosphere down the river."
It added: "Alcohol will be sold internally in the hull and on the main deck and may be taken outside on the main deck otherwise there shall be no off sales of alcohol."
The company hopes to supply alcohol from 12pm – 10pm, Monday – Friday and 12pm – 10pm on Sundays.
It proposes that the premises will be open from 7.30am – 10pm, Monday – Friday and 7.30am – 9pm on Sundays.
To prevent crime and disorder, Turk Launches says that it will install CCTV, covering all entry points, have staff on the premises during all operating hours, and have an incident log.
Residents have until 7 August to make representations.
