The Community Brain's Surbiton Ski and King's soup is returning this Sunday, 22 September.

Surbiton Ski Sunday started in 2009 as a bit of fun to challenge the lazy stereotype of Surbiton being 'dull suburbia'.

Since then the event has attracted entrants from overseas as well as locally and has helped to raise money for local charities.

As well as people skiing down St Mark's Hill on blocks of ice there is the Seething Luge, a bathtub on ice.

It runs from 11 until 1, followed by The King's Soup.

The King's Soup is based on the local folk tale of a selfish King who wants everything good in his kingdom for himself.

His heart is changed when he tasted a simple soup that was made with love.

It will run from 1.30 to 4.30 with entertainment, stalls, a charity bar and, of course, soup.

Community Brain's Robin Hutchinson MBE told Kingston Nub News: "The aim of both events is to draw the community together to have fun and share laughter and soup."
