Surbiton roadworks cause closures, delays, and bus diversions
By Tilly O'Brien 20th May 2026
Roadworks being carried out by UK Power Networks (UKPN) on Surbiton's Ewell Road began on Sunday (17 May).
The works are being carried out at the end of the road at the junction with St Mark's Hill and two-way signals to control traffic have been put in place along with an alternate crossing for pedestrians.
The works also mean that that entrance to Victoria Road has been closed off for vehicles, causing diversions for bus routes 281, 662, and K2, which will no longer serve stops between The Crescent and St Mark's Church while the works are being carried out.
The South Terrace (SL) and St Mark's Hill bus stops have also closed, meaning that passengers using those stops to head towards Kingston and Hounslow now have to use the Surbiton Hill Road/ Hollyfield School bus stop.
UKPN expects that delays may be caused by the works.
The works are expected to end on 21 June at 6pm when both bus stops will also reopen.
