Kingston Choral Society's summer concert will celebrate the stunning music of Henry Purcell, considered to be the greatest English composer of the Baroque era.

A virtuoso performer, Purcell was appointed as organist of Westminster Abbey at the young age of 20, Purcell enjoyed rock-star status during his lifetime, and was dubbed the 'Orpheus Britannicus'

The choir will be joined by a quartet of soloists, that are all recent graduates of the prestigious National Opera studio – including Felix Gygli, winner of the 2023 Kathleen Ferrier Award.

"The period instruments of the Purcell Players add further interest and authenticity to a very special evening of music," says the choir.

Tickets cost £17, either pre-booked or on the door. The performance starts at 7:30pm, while an open rehearsal will take place from 2:30pm to 4pm.
