A Surbiton tutoring centre has been shortlisted for Franchise of the Year 2025 at the National Tutoring Awards.

NumberWorks'nWords Surbiton is one of just four providers nominated in the new category, introduced for the first time at this year's awards, run by The Tutors' Association.

The association described NumberWorks'nWords as a "leading after-school tuition provider" that consistently helps "children build confidence and academic skills".

In a statement, it said: "NumberWorks'nWords UK is a leading after-school tuition provider, offering high-quality maths and English tutoring across London, Australia, and New Zealand.

"Through a robust franchise model, the company delivers structured, curriculum-aligned learning with strong franchisee support and measurable student progress.

"Franchisees benefit from ongoing training, marketing assistance, and a collaborative community.

Now in its fourth year, the National Tutoring Awards will take place on Friday, 4 July 2025 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

Reacting to the nomination, Celia Osbourne, Owner of NumberWorks'nWords Surbiton said: "We at NumberWorks'nWords Surbiton are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prize.

"Most people don't realise that NumberWorks'nWords Surbiton isn't just a brilliant local tuition company striving to support local children aged 5 to 16 to achieve their best in English and maths — we're also part of a larger, international tuition company.

"NumberWorks'nWords itself has been going for 40 years and has over 50 centres, mainly in Australia and New Zealand.

"That's what makes it work so well. While the educators and programmers design amazing resources for us to use — and support us with admin and accounts — we are able to concentrate on providing individualised tuition for each child who signs up.

"Using these resources, I can work with my tutors to create learning programmes tailored to what each student needs to master, at the right level, in every lesson.

"At NumberWorks'nWords Surbiton, we know that every child learns differently. Each child needs a unique approach.

"Thanks to the resources NumberWorks'nWords provides, and our own teaching skills, we're able to offer exactly that – and it's all directly linked to the work they're doing at school."

Over 30 judges from across the education sector will take part in this year's awards.

The public can also cast their votes in The People's Choice Awards, open until Sunday, 15 June 2025. To find out how to vote, click here.
