Save the World Club is celebrating Ukrainian Independence Day this Saturday, 24 August, by dedicating one of their cultural days to Ukraine.
The event will take place at Save the World Club's venue on Southsea Road in Kingston from 2-9pm.
At the event, attendees will learn how to make Ukrainian food, and then everyone will sit down together to eat it.
Save the World Club's Secretary General, Dr. Tariq Shabbeer, said: "It's important for us to celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day because of the devasting situation Ukrainians are currently facing.
There are about 1200 Ukrainian refugees in Kingston, equating to around 500 families, and many of them come to us."
Save the World Club has primarily focuses on food, says Dr. Shabeer.
It collects fresh food from supermarkets and redistributes it to vulnerable communities.
The club also uses a community kitchen to provide rescued perishable food and household goods.
Dr. Shabeer said: "Food is the key to people's hearts, so what better way to celebrate different cultures than with food?"
He explained that Save the World Club does not put a price on anything they sell; it is down to the buyers to suggest a price, and all proceeds will help fund the running of the charity.
This is the same for attending the event; tickets are free, but you can make a donation of your choice when purchasing one.
You can book your tickets here.
This cultural day is the fourth in a series of cultural days Save the World Club has hosted.
It has previously organised evenings demonstrating Middle Eastern, Pakistani and Indian cuisine and plans to host similar events in the future to celebrate Hong Kong, Vietnam, Korea, and Tamil culture.
