Road closures to take place as Thames Water begins repair works for Kingston Vale’s sewer problems

Thames Water has confirmed that a "permanent solution" for Kingston Vale's repeated sewer problems is to start in early June.
The long-awaited large-scale repairs should mean the end to the repeated temporary repairs that have caused much inconvenience over the last couple of years, with road closures in Kingston Vale and lane closures on the A3.
However, while work on the rising main is expected to start on 9 June, it is not expected to be completed until September.
Thames Water will be working in Derwent Avenue and Kingston Vale for these repair works.
A full road closure will be in operation along Derwent Avenue while a lane closure will be in place on Kingston Vale near the Derwent Avenue junction with a two-way traffic light set up for the duration of the works.
A sign-posted diversion will be in place and work will take place from 7am until 7pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am until 2pm on Saturdays.
Along with local residents, Coombe Hill councillors Rowena Bass and Ian George have been "pushing" for a permanent solution to the long-term problem.
The councillors will be liaising with Thames Water to try and ensure that the work is carried out as swiftly as possible.
