Remembrance Day services in Kingston
Kingston's communities are set to join together to pay their respects at Remembrance Sunday events across our Royal Borough on Sunday 10 November.
The services will take place in Kingston Town Centre, New Malden, Surbiton and Chessington.
Kingston Council is committed to the Armed Forces Covenant, a promise by the nation that members of the armed forces will be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve or have served.
The services are as follows:
Kingston Town Centre
On Sunday 10 November at 10:45am, there will be a Civic Procession leaving from the Guildhall through the MarketPlace to the war memorial where a Service will take place.
Several contingents from local organisations will also be taking part in this Service.
This short outside service, which will include the laying of wreaths, will last until around 11:10am.
A Service of Remembrance will then take place in All Saints Church, starting at around 11:30am and finishing at around 12:15pm.
The Civic Procession will then return to the Guildhall at the end of the Church Service.
At around 12:20pm, all the Contingents from local organisations (Regimental Units, Cadets, Scouts, RBL, etc) will muster around the MarketPlace and then start the March Past in front of the Guildhall (finishing about 12:40pm).
Surbiton
On Sunday 10 November at 10:15am, there will be a procession leading from Hollyfield Road, along Ewell Road to the war memorial located at the front Surbiton Library where a Service will take place.
Several Contingents from local organisations will also be taking part in this Service.
New Malden
On Sunday 10 November 2024 at 9am, there will be a procession leading from Presburg Road, across the Fountain Roundabout, along the High Street to the war memorial located at the front of Waitrose where a Service will take place.
Several contingents from local organisations will also be taking part in this Service.
This year, there will be an additional service at the War Memorial, marking its 100th Year with an additional two-minute silence at 11am.
Chessington
Church Lane in Chessington will be closed to traffic between Stokesby Road and Green Lane between 10:50am and 11:10am to enable those who wish to pay their respects at the War Memorial and observe the National two-minute silence.
