Kingston's PRYZM nightclub could be split into two new venues in a huge £3million makeover.

Owner NEOS Hospitality wants to replace PRYZM Kingston with a new bar and nightclub, which would continue to host live music, to attract more revellers.

The venue on Clarence Street would be divided into a 'party bar' on the ground floor, known as Bonnie Rogues, and a new nightclub on the first and second floors, called Circuit.

PRYZM Kingston is famous for hosting gigs from top artists, including Stormzy, Billie Eilish and Shania Twain, which NEOS aims to build on by improving the view of the stage from the second floor in the refurbished building.

NEOS has submitted plans to Kingston Council to make the internal changes needed to transform the venue into Bonnie Rogues and Circuit.

The Grade II listed building originally opened as Granada Cinema in 1939 and was later expanded with two more screens, before shutting in 1987.

The venue was eventually turned into a nightclub called Oceana, which rebranded as PRYZM Kingston in 2014.

Application documents said the revamp would improve the venue's ability to attract top artists, as the changes would allow customers to have a better view of the stage from the second floor.

There would be minimal works to the historic parts of the building.

The documents added the major investment would preserve the building and help it to survive as a nightclub and live music venue.

The council will decide on the plans in due course.

Russell Quelch, CEO of NEOS Hospitality, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS): "We have exciting development plans to bring two of our core venues, Bonnie Rogues and Circuit, to our PRYZM site in Kingston, as we look to provide a vibrant, next generation, split venue space for our customers to enjoy throughout the day and evening.

"If our submitted plans are accepted, this will allow us at NEOS to develop the existing space, and invest £3m into the venue this year, transforming the space into two concepts that align with customer demand in the area.

"Bonnie Rogues party bar will occupy the ground floor, with a new state-of-the-art club, Circuit, on the first and second floor, bringing two new social hubs to the town with good vibes, live music and late-night entertainment central to our plan."

Hospitality company Rekom UK shut 17 venues in 2024, including sites under the PRYZM and Atik brands.

It separated from its owner, Rekom Group, and rebranded as NEOS in the same year.

NEOS is now pressing ahead with plans to revamp venues it still owns, including PRYZM Kingston, and acquire more.
