Police have confirmed they are investigating the death of Freddie the seal.

Freddie was mauled by a dog at Hammersmith Bridge on Sunday afternoon, and had to be put down yesterday due to his injuries.

In a statement released today, the Metropolitan Police confirmed they are making enquiries about the incident and have informed the RSPCA.

They are seeking to identify witnesses and would like to speak to the owner of the dog which attacked Freddie.

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote the reference 0702604/21.
