Police are appealing for witnesses after a 22-year-old man died following a fail-to-stop collision in Kingston late on Saturday night.

The incident happened at around 11.37pm on Saturday, 7 February, on Wood Street at the junction with Horse Fair.

Officers say the collision involved a car and a moped. The rider of the moped, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency services attending.

Specialist officers are now supporting the victim's family.

The driver of the car, which police describe as dark-coloured, failed to stop at the scene and remains outstanding.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle and its driver, and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have been in the area at the time and has dash-cam or CCTV footage, to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 8352/07FEB26.

Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
