Old Kingston NHS buildings could be bulldozed for 92 flats

Plans have been submitted to demolish old NHS buildings in Kingston for 92 flats.
The site is part of the derelict Rose Lodge complex, in New Malden, which the NHS deemed surplus to requirements in 2012.
South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust sold Rose Lodge and the Roseland Resource Centre, which were part of the complex and shut in 2013, to developer KK Investment Ltd in 2014.
They are currently used as houses in multiple occupation (HMOs).
KK Investment has now put forward plans to Kingston Council to demolish these buildings for three blocks, up to eight storeys tall, with 92 flats and 32 basement car parking bays.
The developer said affordable housing would be provided in the blocks, but it has not confirmed the number proposed.
Planning documents said the scheme would "optimise housing output" on brownfield land and fit in with "the local context in terms of height, mass, orientation and visual appearance".
The council will decide on the plans in due course.
Roseland Clinic, which was also part of the complex and shut in 2016, was sold to another developer. The council approved plans in 2019 for the clinic to be demolished for 37 flats, but development has not started.
