New table tennis group in New Malden offers benefits for people with Parkinson's
By Tilly O'Brien 14th Sep 2026
People living with Parkinson's in Kingston, New Malden and the surrounding areas are being encouraged to try a new table tennis group which is aiming to help "more local communities live well in a fun and social way".
The club's sessions take place every Tuesday from 2pm - 3pm at Graham Spicer Table Tennis Club in New Malden.
The first session is free, and after that membership will cost £20 per month.
Delivered by experienced coaches from Graham Spicer Table Tennis, and supported by Table Tennis England and Kingston Council, the new sessions will aim to help more local people living with Parkinson's get into table tennis.
According to the club, table tennis can have many benefits for people living with Parkinson's, including better balance, coordination and strength, as well as many other social and wellbeing benefits.
No previous experience is required, all ages and abilities are welcome to take part and all the equipment is provided on site.
Participants are recommended to wear comfortable footwear and appropriate clothing for being active. Refreshments are available, but it is advised to bring a bottle of water and any medication you might need on the day.
Relatives, friends and carers are also welcome to take part, or stay for a coffee and a catch-up during each session.
Jane Barella, volunteer at Graham Spicer Table Tennis, said: "Table tennis is a great way to be active and we're delighted to be offering the new sessions. It's a friendly place to exercise, meet new people and look after your wellbeing. I would say to anyone to come along and give it a try."
