New Malden opticians celebrates relaunch post refurbishment

Shoppers visiting New Malden joined in the party atmosphere with high street opticians, Specsavers, which celebrated its recent store makeover with the newly appointed Mayor of Kingston upon Thames, customers and VIP guests.

Specsavers New Malden's store directors Karina Peshawaria Kamal and Bhavisha Patel welcomed Kingston's Mayor, Cllr Noel Hadjimichael, to cut the ribbon, say a few words and mark the start of the celebrations.

Retail director Karina said: "We're thrilled with our new-look store, which includes the very latest Specsavers stylised new frame displays, digital screens and in-store lighting showcasing our wide range of frames, from value-led to designer brands including the latest Elton John Eyewear Collection.

"We were delighted that the Mayor could support our grand re-opening, along with guests from the wider London Specsavers regional team."

Cllr Hadjimichael was given a tour of the store and learned more about the state-of-the-art testing equipment and hearing services offered.

An accredited Platinum Employer, 2024 Winners of the Specsavers Dame Mary Perkins Award for Outstanding Customer & Clinical Care, and finalists in the 2025 Awards for Excellence in Clinical Leadership, Specsavers New Malden has built up a reputation over the last 25 years for delivering outstanding customer service and clinical expertise.

Optometrist director Bhavisha said: "We are very proud of the recognition we have received from our peers and loyal customers. We will continue to provide the very best clinical care and customer service to our community."

The store has also invested in the latest technology and is now able to offer customers an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan.

The hospital-grade equipment helps to detect eye conditions, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, up to four years earlier than traditional methods, and is currently available at an additional cost of just £5.

The store has three consulting rooms, diagnostic testing areas and a dedicated contact lens station. Hearing services, including ear wax removal, are also available once a week on Tuesdays.

For those that cannot leave their homes unaccompanied due to disability or illness, Specsavers also offers a Home Visits service covering more than 90% of the UK – with more details available here.

To book in for a sight or hearing check, you can contact Specsavers New Malden on 020 8336 7620. Sight test vouchers are available online for just £10 until 30 June – conditions apply.

Alternatively, you can book online here.
