New gym coming to Kingston
PureGym is coming to Kingston- and its located almost opposite the GymGroup on Eden Street.
Housed in the old Argos warehouse, the 'no frills' gym chain will be stocking up on cardio equipment, weights and resistance training machines.
Both gym chains are open 24/7, offer personal trainers and a range of fitness equipment. However, the sites differ in pay and membership structures.
Jack Coton, General Manager of the GymGroup Kingston welcomed the news of the new PureGym, saying it is "fantastic". He added that it "boosts the competition".
Mr Coton spoke of the community-feel at his GymGroup branch. He said: "People have been going to this gym for years, so they are only going to change if there is something wrong with it."
PureGym are hiring level 3 fitness coaches, but Mr Coton said all his 9 staff are staying.
He added: "The opening of a new gym might ease off the number of people at peak times.
"We can get between 180-220 people in here on evenings."
Three months ago, the Kingston GymGroup spent £300,000 upgrading the gym floor and the equipment.
A PureGym spokesperson said: "We are delighted to announce we are bringing flexible, affordable fitness to Kingston! Members will be able to access first class fitness facilities including a free weights area, functional area, a range of classes and PTs, all through PureGym's low-cost, zero-contract memberships."
The opening date for the new site is unknown, while workmen are still redeveloping the inside of the building.
The spokesperson added: "The brand-new gym will be open 24/7 for members to use at their convenience and will be easily accessible with two hours of free parking available nearby.
"We can't wait to welcome new members through the doors of PureGym London Kingston – look out for our opening offer!"
