The Pheasantry Café in Bushy Park has recruited three little owl sculptures to try to scare off the pigeons and other birds.

Regardless of their effectiveness the 'owl-team' has been a significant point of interest for children visiting the café with their families.

So, now the Friends of Bushy and Home Parks think the owls warrant a name of their own and is inviting children to submit their ideas.

Hedwig from the Harry Potter books may be an obvious top choice but Owl Pacino and Owlbert Einstein or even Simon as in Simon Cowe-OWL may appeal to others.

A spokesperson for the Friends of Bushy and Home Parks says: "Many of you may have seen the man made owls at the doors to the Pheasantry café – they are there to deter pigeons.

"The jury is out on this goal, but no one can deny the fascination by children, and the very successful attraction of children to the café.

As they have been so successful, we think that they need a name – so please submit any name that you think is fitting and we will announce winners in the next newsletter.
