The roadworks on Villers Avenue continue despite signs suggesting that they would finish today (Thursday, 16 October).

The works, which are being carried out by UK Power Network, began in the morning of 15 September and have been causing some traffic delays.

There are also road closures at the junctions where Villiers Avenue crosses the following junctions:

  • Cheyne Hill
  • Eversley Road
  • Burney Avenue
  • King Charles Road

While one of the road closures has been completed today, others are still ongoing with the full estimated completion date being 12 February 2026.

The Cheyne Hill bus stop, which operates for the K4 towards Hook, is closed while the works take place.

The works are part of a wider installation of underground cables from Chessington to Kingston being carried out by UK Power Network.

A UK Power Network spokesperson told Nub News: "We would like to apologise for the impact of our work in the Villiers Avenue area of Kingston upon Thames, London.

"For the safety of the public, traffic management has been put in place, while field staff carry out essential upgrades to the electricity network installing brand-new high voltage cables.

"UK Power Networks has been granted permits by the local authority to ensure work is completed as soon as is safely possible.

"The work is part of a major project upgrading electrical infrastructure from Chessington to Kingston where 10 kilometres of electricity cables are being replaced.

The new underground cables will support and future-proof increasing power demands for local residents and businesses. Work is expected to be completed in January 2027."
