With Christmas now just weeks away, Momentum Children's Charity has announced two festive fundraising events aimed at bringing the community together while raising vital funds for families facing childhood illness during the holiday period.

The charity will host its Christmas Spectacular on Thursday, 11 December at 7pm, held at All Saints Church, Kingston. The evening will feature performances from the Laine Theatre Arts Choir, conducted by Lawrence Broomfield, Choral Director at Laine Theatre Arts.

Momentum Ambassador, actor and singer Kim Ismay, will compere the event and give a special performance.

The choir will present a programme ranging from traditional carols to well-known musical theatre numbers, with opportunities for the audience to join in.

A week later, on Saturday 20 December at 2pm, Momentum will hold its first Movie Magic afternoon at Christ Church, Surbiton Hill, with a family-friendly screening of The Muppet Christmas Carol. The event will include a raffle with seasonal prizes, and refreshments will be available to purchase. Guests are encouraged to wear their favourite Christmas outfits.

Tara Sherjan, Head of Public Fundraising at Momentum Children's Charity, said: "We would love to welcome as many people as possible to our 'Christmas Spectacular' and 'Movie Magic' events.

"They promise to be great fun while al so raising vital funds. We're especially delighted to have the Laine Theatre Arts Choir leading our 'Christmas Spectacular' event – a huge thank you to them for generously giving their time to support us.

"Through these events, we hope to raise vital funds so that our Family Support Workers can continue to be there for families in hospital and at home this Christmas."

The charity supports children with cancer and life-challenging conditions across south west London, Surrey and Sussex, and says funds raised this month will help ensure families receive support both over Christmas and throughout the year.

Ticket information:

  • Christmas Spectacular: £20 per adult; £5 for under-14s; under-2s free. Ticket price includes a glass of fizz and a mince pie.
  • Movie Magic: £10 per adult; £5 for under-14s.
