Man injured and rushed to hospital after collision with taxi. Main road in Kingston closed while police probe what happened

Police have given some details of an incident that has caused a major road in Kingston to be closed this afternoon.

It happened in Wood Street around 4pm and the road remained closed this evening, with officers saying at 8.30pm that they still do not know when it will reopen.

A statement from Met Police says: "At 4.26pm on Tuesday, 13 December police were called to Wood Street, Kingston following reports of a road traffic collision.

"Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics.

"A male pedestrian – believed to be aged 47 – had been involved in a collision with a taxi.

"He was taken to a south London hospital and we await an update on his condition.

"The road remains closed while officers conduct further enquiries."
