Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park, Sarah Olney, will use a Parliamentary Debate on Friday to demand Ministers publish their rescue plan in the event that Thames Water collapses.
The plan, revealed to be called 'Operation Timber', has been revealed by The Guardian to be being developed by Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) Permanent Secretary, Tamara Finkelstein.
However, Ministers have continually refused to publish the proposals claiming it 'would not be appropriate'.
Olney's demands follow reports in the Financial Times that the company was lobbying the Ministers and the industry regulator, Ofwat, for permission to raise bills, give dividend payouts and receive lower fines in an effort to avoid a Government bailout.
The Richmond Park MP has demanded the plans be published immediately 'in the public interest', with billions of pounds of public money potentially at stake.
Her demands also come as Thames Water was the only water company which has refused to contribute to the £180 million anti-pollution fund that the Government wants to use to tackle sewage spills.
Olney's debate will mean that a DEFRA Minister will have to respond to the demands in the House of Commons on Friday, heaping pressure on the Government to publish the plans.
Sarah Olney said: "This Conservative Government's refusal to make their contingency plan in the event of Thames Water's collapse public is nothing short of a cover up.
"It is very clear they could easily slip into special administration. The public therefore has a right to know what Ministers plan to do.
"For too long, water companies have been allowed to get away with pumping raw sewage into our waterways whilst Conservative Ministers have turned a blind eye. It is time they cracked down on these polluting giants and put an end to this disgusting practice."
