Updates from yesterday

STRONG WINDS of over 60mph have been forecast for Kingston tomorrow (18 February) as the Met Office warns that Storm Eunice could cause "significant disruption" across much of the UK.

Gusts ranging from 60 to 68 miles per hour are expected to hit the town between 11am and 1pm and there will be high winds of over 40mph for much of the day.

It comes as the Met Office issues an Amber Weather Warning for most regions in England including London and the South East, from 3am to 9pm tomorrow, due to the arrival of Storm Eunice.

The Amber warning means that damage to buildings and homes, falling branches, public transport delays and power cuts are all likely as a result of the strong winds.

There is also a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life.

A 'warning impact matrix' by the Met Office shows that the winds will be high impact and are quite likely.

Following the news, the Royal Parks - which runs Bushy and Richmond Parks - announced that all of its playgrounds in its parks will be closed tomorrow.

Nearby Park Lane Stables have also cancelled their planned outdoor activities for 18 Feb.

In a statement today the stables said: "We have had to make the difficult decision to cancel all activities tomorrow.

"We have not taken this decision lightly but we prioritise safety and have taken heed of the met office warning. We hope everyone stays safe and well."
