Massive tree felled by Storm Eunice blocks Teddington main road
A MASSIVE tree has been felled by Storm Eunice in Teddington, temporarily blocking a main road.
The tree was blown over on Park Road A309 just in front of the Adelaide pub, at about 10.30am this morning.
The pub's landlady Mariana Craciun told Nub News: "I heard a massive snap like a bit of wood hitting a table between 10 and 10.30 in the morning.
"The tree fell right in the middle of the road.
"Nobody was hurt as far as I know, but the tree hit the lamppost and the lamppost hit a roof. "
"It's not too bad - everybody's safe, I've just spoken to the police.
"They're now clearing the damage up."
Traffic had to be redirected due to the blockage, Craciun said.
Teddington resident James Ruskin, spotted the fallen tree at 11.25am.
His photo posted on Twitter shows the tree blocking the path of buses and cars.
A later photo at 11.44am sent to Nub News shows the tree still blocking the road, but with a woman in a high-vis jacket inspecting it.
Richmond Council leader Gareth Roberts retweeted Ruskin's photo and urged residents of the borough not to go out.
"MASSIVE tree down in Park Road, Teddington. Avoid the area if you MUST go out," he wrote.
