A care home in Kingston has stepped up for a day of fundraising fun to support those affected by dementia.
Team members at Care UK's Galsworthy House, on Kingston Hill, strolled their way to success and raised an impressive £640 for Alzheimer's Society, which Care UK will match – increasing the total donation to £1,280.
The participants completed their seven mile walk in Richmond Park on a sunny Sunday, waved off by residents, who also manned a refuelling station of fruits and juices.
Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading care and research charity for those affected by dementia, their families and carers. The charity supports tens of thousands of families living with dementia every year, alongside hundreds of researchers and training centres across the UK.
Andreea Tiple, Home Manager at Galsworthy House, said: "We're incredibly proud of everyone who took part in our sponsored walk. It was a real team effort and the atmosphere was fantastic all day long.
"We chose to fundraise for Alzheimer's Society due to our common goals when it comes to supporting people living with dementia, which the charity does for so many families across the south of England – and we wanted to do our part to help make a difference.
"The challenge gave us a chance to come together, have fun and raise money for a cause that means a lot to so many of us.
"The generosity and enthusiasm shown by everyone here have been amazing. We're so grateful to everyone who walked, donated or cheered us on!"
Galsworthy House, operated by Care UK, provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
It has been designed to enable its residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence. The building incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own café, on-site pub and bar and hair and beauty salon.
