A Kingston Business School graduate who got into the university through clearing has made this year's Forbes Europe 30 Under 30 list.

Christian Facey, 29, attended Kingston University between 2010 and 2014 after retaking his A Levels and promised himself he'd make the most of the opportunity, graduating in 2014 with a BSc (Hons) in Business Management.

Now, seven years later, Facey and his business partner Wilfrid Obeng have been recognised alongside 28 other young Europeans as future stars of the media and marketing world.

The pair were singled out for their work setting up AudioMob, a company which uses technology allowing mobile gamers to listen to adverts without the advert's banner interrupting the game.

Despite only being set up last year, AudioMob has already attracted $2 million (£1.4 million) worth of funding and is used by household names including Warner Music and Ministry of Sound Group.

Facey told Kingston University : "We are very proud of this achievement and of our work in building a unique and original advertising format.

"Running a business is always a learning journey and staying at the cutting edge is a proactive process of research, development and discovery.

"It's been an amazing journey and there are many things we want to do, from developing our technology, to increasing diversity within the game technology and entrepreneurial sectors with a mentoring programme for Black 18 to 25-year-olds, to corporate social responsibility initiatives around mental health and the environment. We are only just getting started."

He added: "I also hope our success will inspire young, budding entrepreneurs from a diverse range of backgrounds and show young people that with hard work, initiative and good ideas they can launch a successful business."

Facey reflected on his time at Kingston University, which he viewed as a key factor in giving him the knowledge and practical experience to succeed as an entrepreneur.

He said: "Kingston University was absolutely the best choice for me with an environment that gave me the skills and confidence to develop as a budding entrepreneur.

"The modules that I studied, conversations with my tutors and joining the Entrepreneurial Society taught me how to approach typical business challenges and find opportunities.

"I also met some incredible people, both tutors and students, who inspired me to become an entrepreneur."

He also gave his top tips to those who would like to follow in his footsteps.

"If you want an edge over the competition, you should have two or three internships under your belt by the time you graduate," he said.

"If you cannot get real life experience, then create your own experience by starting new business ventures.

"Also learn to accept that you cannot know everything. Be prepared to learn from your mistakes and from others."

Christian now lives in east London and plans to take his business to the next level in the billion-dollar mobile games industry.

Before AudioMob he had started other ventures including an events company, a foreign exchange trading business and a nightlife business, which proved unsuccessful.

Christian and Wilfrid's love of producing hip hop music and passion for online gaming and music later inspired the pair to found Jukebox, a music streaming platform monetised through audio ads.

While the business didn't succeed, it did lead to the creation of AudioMob as the pair extensively researched the games market and new technology.
