'Free Palestine' protestors march through Kingston

Protestors chanting 'free Palestine' were seen marching through Kingston town centre this afternoon.

A group of around 50 people holding up signs declaring 'Freedom for Palestine' walked a circular route from the Bentall Centre to Eden Street at around 3.15pm.

Members of the Kingston and Surbiton Labour party are in attendance.

The demonstration organised by BLM Kingston comes after similar protests across UK cities last weekend, including outside the Israeli Embassy in London.

Protestors are now gathered outside HSBC and the crowd has swelled to around 80.

Many young people are in attendance and schoolchildren have been heard condemning the violence in Gaza.

A spokesperson for Kingston police said: "Police are aware of a planned protest in Kingston on Friday 21st May 2021.

"Officers will attend to engage with attendees and ensure it remains peaceful.
