A Kingston school is appealing for votes to win a makeover jackpot after being named as one of 10 finalists in a London-wide competition.

Latchmere School is hoping to drum up enough votes to be crowned champion in Leyland SDM's Big School Makeover competition.

The school with the most public support will win £5,000 worth of decorating and DIY product from Leyland SDM, with two runners-up bagging £2,500 of product each.

The vote opens on Monday 6 November and closes 26 November. People can vote once a day. Visit: www.leylandsdm.co.uk/bigschoolmakeover

Big School Makeover attracted more than 500 entries, with judges at Leyland SDM whittling it down to a final 10.

They are:

  • College Park School (Westminster)
  • Greenside Primary School (Shepherds Bush)
  • Harris Primary Academy (East Dulwich)
  • Latchmere School (Kingston upon Thames)

Martin Hastings, CEO of Leyland SDM, said: "A huge congratulations to our 10 finalists! We had a massive response to our Big School Makeover competition so all of these schools have done exceptionally well to stand out from crowd to progress to the next round.

"A three-week voting period now begins to find our overall winner and runners-up. I'm sure all of the schools will be doing everything they can to get as many votes as they can.

"They are all very worthy finalists and I can't wait to see who comes out on top.

"We're determined to support the communities in and around our stores and Big School Makeover gives us a chance to make a real difference to three schools in a new and exciting way."

Big School Makeover was open to both primary and secondary schools across London, where Leyland SDM has 33 stores in prominent locations.

The winning schools will be able to use their prize money to select any products from Leyland SDM's extensive range, including paint from leading brands, decorating essentials, tools, timber and plumbing parts.
