Kingston Round Table to host Dad's First Aid session in July

Kingston Round Table is working in partnership with St John Ambulance to host a Dad's First Aid session at the Willoughby Arms in Kingston at 7pm on Thursday, 24 July.
At the event, St John Ambulance will deliver first aid training focusing on small children and covering things like CPR, bleeds, burns and choking.

Speaking about the event, Kingston Round Table's Chairman Lee Williamson said: "If you are a dad and a bit worried about what to do in an emergency, this is a great chance to brush up on those first aid skills with some likeminded guys.
"If you're not a dad or your kids are a bit older, don't worry - you are still welcome as it's always good to know a bit of first aid. Hopefully you will never have to use it.

Kingston Round Table is a "bunch of ordinary lads" aged 18 to 45 who meet every other Thursday evening at around 7pm.
It does "some cool activities", says Williamson, such as axe throwing, go karting, and rock climbing before going for a beer and a catch up afterwards.
Williamson said: "We decided to combine our more light-hearted activities with this community event.
"We meet midweek, so it doesn't clash with family commitments at the weekends. It also helps to break up the Monday to Friday grind and gives you a night off from the responsibility of everyday life and an opportunity to recharge the batteries.
"We also feel, with men's mental health being more in the spotlight and suicide being the biggest killer of young men, it is more important than ever for men to have that support network."
Kingston is known as Round Table 19 because it was the 19th Table ever set up and is now 95 years old.
The group had a reboot last year going from two to ten members, which allowed it to bring back the Santa Sleigh at Christmas, raising £2,500 for various causes.

Speaking about the group, Williamson said: "It is the highlight of my week meeting up with the guys and doing some daft activity.
"I am new to London and work from home so it's difficult to meet new people. I recently became a dad myself and thought that the Dad's First Aid night would be a great idea.
"A lot of guys might struggle to attend something like this, but to be able to do it with likeminded guys makes it so much more accessible and enjoyable."
Kingston Roundtable is always on the lookout for new members, so if you want to attend its socials or the first aid session, you can message the group on its Facebook or email it at [email protected].
