Kingston resident features in Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can' campaign

22-year-old Kingston resident, Caitlin Trevor, has been taking part in Sport's England's 'This Girl Can' Campaign in partnership with Nike and Studio You.
ThisGirlCan, which launched at the end of April of this year, is part of a nationwide campaign celebrating its 10th year focusing on getting young women and girls moving, regardless of shape, size and ability.
This new campaign features a series of fun and inclusive Physical Education video lessons.
Powered by This Girl Can and funded by The National Lottery, Studio You is an innovative digital exercise platform intended to reach teenage girls across England.
It is packed with over 100 video lessons, as well as tips and guidance to inject fun into physical education (PE) across a range of non-competitive activities such as dance, yoga and fitness.
Through the new Studio You x Nike hub, This Girl Can is aiming to reframe negative narratives and experiences surrounding PE for girls, and inspire even more 11 - 16-year-olds to feel confident and engaged as they move and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of being active.
Caitlin, who has Down's Syndrome, has lived in Kingston since she was three and currently trains and competes as a para swimmer for Kingston Royals Swimming Club (KRSC).

She joined the competitive swim club in 2017,and trains while also following a home study programme known as the 'Allium College'.
She studies English, Maths, ICT, Art, life skills and PE and has been working on Lamda and coaching qualifications with Disability Sports Coach, a charity which offers coaching courses and fitness classes in its Inclusive Activity Leaders programme, sponsored by Nike.
Speaking about being part of the campaign, Caitlin enthused about the experience working at the Nike studio, saying: "I'm thrilled to have been able to be a part of the new Studio You x Nike project – which has now launched – and is powered by This Girl Can."
"From working with Nike master trainer Rahkee,' Caitlin shared said: "It was amazing to be part of such a fabulous group of instructors. I had a great time meeting and working with the team at Nike, Sport England and Hopscotch Consulting as well as the incredible charity, Disability Sport Coach.
"The whole process has put girls' voices at its heart, and it's been fun every step of the way too."
She added: "Everyone feels differently about physical activity. To me I feel refreshed by activity, and it makes me determined to meet my goals.
"Whatever the challenges, I feel motivated by exercise and feel better, fitter and happier, which is why I'm so proud to have been a part of a project which encourages all girls to feel good about getting active.
"If you're a teacher, head over to the Studio You website to sign up for free."
