The COVID rates in Kingston are not falling fast enough.

That is according to the Director of Public Health at Kingston Council.

Ioana Lidington told Radio Jackie that life cannot get back to normal just because the vaccine is rolling out at pace.

She added: "It doesn't mean you can do whatever you like.

"You still need to do the hands face and space.

"If you were to get ill you are much less likely to get severely ill but not everyone else has had the vaccination yet.

"Stay at home as much as possible."

The COVID rate in our borough is currently 118 per 100,000 people - the national average is 125.

The rates soared to over 800 in early January just before the latest lockdown began.
