On Wednesday, 6 August, Kingston Peace Council / CND will be marking  the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima with a commemoration at Kingston Riverside.

The event will be attended by local peace campaigners, members of the local Japanese community, and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kingston.

There will be a couple of short speeches, a minute's silence and attendees will then strew white flowers onto the River Thames in memory of the souls of those killed by the bombing of Hiroshima and the other Japanese city destroyed, Nagasaki.

The event will take place at the Kingston end of Canbury Gardens and begins at 8pm on Wednesday.
