An incredible £462,921 in grants from the Culture Recovery Fund have been awarded to venues and groups in Kingston borough, Arts Council England announced on Friday.

The aim of the grants is to support cultural organisations between April and June as they transition back to a viable and sustainable operating model, according to the Fund's website

The full list of groups in Kingston receiving funding, and the amount they have been given, is as follows:

- Kingston Theatre Trust, £190,000

- BalletBoyz Ltd, £97,000

- The Fighting Cocks Bar & Venue Ltd, £81,866.

- Creative Youth, £37,055

- Radius Music Management, £32,000

- The Community Brain, £25,000

The Rose Theatre, which is supported by Kingston Theatre Trust, said at the time: "Today's announcement regarding the second round of funding from the Government's Culture Recovery Fund for Rose Theatre is wonderful news, and we would like to extend our thanks to both DCMS and Arts Council England.

"This new grant will help to ensure that the Rose endures this challenging time and will enable us to restart business operations in the coming months as Covid-19 restrictions begin to lift.

"This support is crucial to safeguarding a future for the Rose. Without this grant and the support we have received from our loyal supporters and audiences, alongside our key stakeholders — the Royal Borough of Kingston and Kingston University — the Rose would not survive.

"Culture creates jobs, supports livelihoods, and brings joy to everyone. All of the team here at the Rose stand with the rest of the sector, including the freelancers who are so vital to the work we create, as part of the #HereForCulture movement.
