Kingston man charged with murder following fatal stabbing in Wimbledon

A man from Kingston has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Wimbledon.

Police were called at 12.37am on Sunday, 22 February following reports of a stabbing on The Broadway, Wimbledon.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and located a man with stab wounds. He sadly died at the scene.

The victim has since been named as Luke Brereton, 40, from Mitcham. His family are aware and continuing to receive support from specialist officers.

Officers arrested a man on Sunday, 22 February in connection with Luke's death, which is being treated as an isolated incident.

Amar Zafar, 35, of Cambridge Grove Road, Kingston has since been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

He was due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Monday, 23 February.
