A KARATE student with a rare genetic disorder will do 100 press-ups in a row this weekend to raise money for Kingston and Richmond Crossroads Care Saturday Club.

Seventeen-year-old Milan is a member of the club for children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND) and will complete the challenge to support Children's Mental Health week.

Karate Student of the Year 2021 Milan has Wiedemann-Steiner syndrome which causes symptoms including short stature and a reduction in muscle tone (hypotonia.)

He is undertaking the incredible challenge even though the minimum required to gain a Black Belt is 50 consecutive press-ups.

Milan, currently a Yellow Belt, has already managed to do an impressive 50 press-ups without stopping, but wants to go even further than that by achieving 100.

"Even though it's going to be really hard, I think I can do it, but I don't want to do it just for me, I want to do it for the Saturday Club and all the young people that it helps" he said.

"So, I'm hoping that you will sponsor me. Ten pence for each press-up I do would mean giving just £10."

Julie Da Costa, CEO of Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston added: "Doing this fundraiser was entirely Milan's idea which just goes to show what a lovely, kind young man he has become. We'll be cheering him on from the sidelines."

Milan's aim is to raise £1,000 for the Saturday Club that he so loves. Can you help him reach his target?
