Main roads across Kingston are shut this morning due to severe flooding across the borough.

Parts of the A3 are shut and traffic is at a standstill in New Malden, Surbiton and Long Ditton.

Torrential rain started last night around 2am and two flood warnings for Kingston were put in place.

The A3 is closed between Roehampton Lane and Coombe Lane, and the section from Esher Common to Hook Junction is also shut. This is due to flooding from last night.

Severe delays are being reported on the A243 at Long Ditton, the A240 in Surbiton, the A307 at Thames Ditton and on the Richmond Road A307.

Flooding is also affecting the A2043 at New Malden and a road is partially blocked.

The 131, X26 and K5 buses are on diversion.

The Environment Agency will release an update on the flooding at 9am.
