Kingston Councillor James Giles applauds borough’s children’s services for outstanding Ofsted rating
Kingston Upon Thames local authority children's services has today been awarded an OUTSANDING rating following an Ofsted inspection.
In light of this news, Leader of the Opposition, Councillor James Giles, said: "Can I place on record my congratulations to all of our officers in Children's Services - officially OUTSTANDING as noted in their OFSTED inspection for Children's Services released today.
"This achievement is a reflection of the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts of all those involved in the borough's education and child welfare sectors.
"I would specifically like to thank and congratulate Ian Dodds, the Director of Children's Services, whose exemplary leadership I know is valued by all members - including here in The Opposition Group.
"The OFSTED report rightly lauded Mr Dodds as "an aspirational director of children's services" and recognised the ambitious and stable leadership team he heads, who together provide incredibly effective services to the children and families of Kingston.
"Under Mr Dodds's stewardship, Kingston Council has demonstrated what can be achieved when there is a clear vision and a relentless commitment to nurturing the potential of every child.
"The transformation of Children's Services since I first started following Council affairs eleven(!) years ago has been incredible - going from INADEQUATE to OUTSTANDING.
Cllr Giles continued: "His leadership has not only set high standards but has also ensured that those high standards are met consistently. It is a testament to what we can achieve when aspirations are met with action and ambition is coupled with relentless pursuit of excellence. Well done to all."
