Kingston Council is commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day on Sunday 26 January from. 1.30pm to 4pm.

The event is organised alongside Kingston Faith and Belief Forum at the Glenmore House, 6 The Crescent, Surbiton.

The theme of this year's event is 'For a better future'.

This year is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the largest Nazi concentration camps.

Over six million Jews were murdered under Nazi Germany control.

The 27 January marks the day the Auschwitz concentration camp was overtaken by Soviet soldiers and the people trapped by Nazi Germany were liberated.

The 2025 Holocaust Memorial Day also marks the 30th anniversary of the 1995 genocide in Bosnia, killing 8,000 Bosnian Muslims.

For those attending the event, discretion is advised as sensitive historical themes will be addressed.

Tickets for the event are free, but you must register to attend here
