As part of its vision to create a cleaner, greener Kingston, Kingston Council is committed to making cycling and other forms of active travel attractive, safe and accessible for as many people as possible, providing travel options that help tackle the impacts of climate change.
The original Kingston to New Malden cycle scheme was approved for construction by the Environmental and Sustainable Transport Committee on 11 February 2020, following completion of a public consultation.
The route was partially built but not completed due to lack of available funding.
Thus, Kingston Council is now working to complete the route and has amended its designs for the section between London Road and California Road.
Since the previous consultation, the council has reviewed the effectiveness of the existing sections of route and made some improvements.
Moreover, TfL has created the SuperLoop bus network, including the SL7 which runs along Cambridge Road and Kingston Road.
The council's revised plans reflect the importance of this corridor for buses as well as cyclists, including retaining as much of the existing westbound bus lane as possible while completing the cycle route.
In light of its revised plans, Kingston Council would like your views on the improved and updated plans to complete the Kingston to New Malden walking and cycling route between London Road and California Road.
To express your views, you must complete the Council's online survey by 27 October.
If you have any questions or need any of the information in a different format, you can get in touch with the councilvia phone: 020 8547 5000, or email [email protected].
