Kingston Council grants permission to partially modify museum for new leisure centre construction

Kingston Council has this week granted permission for the "partial removal of Kingston Museum boundary railings and wall and changes to the Kingston Museum garden" as part of the construction of the new leisure centre.
The new Kingfisher Leisure Centre, which was granted planning permission in February this year, will compromise a main pool and learner pool, fitness studios, gym, sports halls, health suite, changing facilities, cafe, soft play, enhancements to the existing play area, landscaping and public realm, cycle parking, blue badge car parking, access, and associated works.
A decision document by the Head of Development Management on behalf of Kingston Council, Barry Lomax said: "The applicant is informed that the submitted details have been assessed by relevant consultees and are hereby approved subject to carrying out the development in accordance with the approved details, in relation to Condition 16 (Piling Method Statement) and Condition 40 (Piling Method Statement) of planning permission 24/02624/CREG3."
It added: "In dealing with the application the Council has implemented the requirement in the National Planning Policy Framework to work with the applicant in a positive and proactive way.
"We have made available detailed advice in the form of our statutory policies in the Core Strategy, Supplementary Planning Documents, Planning Briefs and other informal written guidance, as well as offering a full pre-application advice service, in order to ensure that the applicant has been given every opportunity to submit an application which is likely to be considered favourably."
