A 600-space car park in Kingston has been put up for sale in a bid to redevelop it.

Kingston Council is offering Cattle Market Car Park, which spans 0.44 hectares in Kingston town centre, to a developer to transform it.

The site, a two-minute drive from Kingston station, includes a basement and surface level car park with 600 spaces in total.

A council spokesperson said it is open to considering any proposals from developers which align with its vision for the town centre – including supporting the planned replacement of the Kingfisher Leisure Centre, which neighboured the site before it was demolished in 2022.

They added some parking spaces could be kept as part of any redevelopment.

Property consultant Montagu Evans is marketing the site online as a 'development opportunity'. The asking price is available on application.

A council spokesperson added: "The council is delivering on longstanding ambitions to use its assets to support the positive growth and development of Kingston town centre and maintain its strength as a renowned shopping and business location.

"We are open-minded to the uses for the Cattle Market Car Park site and are looking forward to receiving a range of proposals from interested parties that support our vision for the future of the town centre.

"This includes operation of the new leisure centre and retaining an element of car parking on the site."
