Three care workers from Kingston headed to Wales last week to take on the fast zip wire in the world in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK.

Lisa Maria Ortiz, Debbie Harding and Anne Conquest of Signature at Coombe Hill Manor, a luxury care home in Kingston, drove up to the Penrhyn Quarry in Wales to take on the feared zip line where you can travel at speeds of up to and over 100mph while taking in the beauty of Snowdonia.

The trio were initially heading up to Wales for Lisa's former assistant's wedding when Debbie suggested they combine their trip to include something special which could help support a charitable cause.

After some in-depth research, the Kingston care workers settled on the adrenaline pumping challenge and headed for the Penrhyn Quarry.

Lisa, Debbie and Anne were sent zooming down the 1.5-kilometre zip line taking on two hours of adventure speeding over the Penrhyn Quarry Lake and the picturesque views of Snowdonia.

Lisa, Activities Manager at Signature at Coombe Hill Manor, reflected on their experience stressing her disbelief at coming out the other side in one piece!

She said: "I purposely didn't want the girls to tell me anything about it because I'm terrified of heights and can't even get on the London Eye!

"I was crying the whole way through, it was an incredibly emotionally draining experience, but it was special to do it and for such an important cause and it is something I will never forget."

All smiles! The Signature at Coombe Hill Manor trio post their exhilarating experience.
