The Liberal Democrats have written to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, in a bid to halt the Met's plans to cut several 24-hour police counters across the capital.
Two front counters will remain open 24 hours a day at the busiest sites - Charing Cross and Lewisham - while a further 25, including Kingston's, will be geographically spread across London and operate Monday to Friday, 10am until 10pm, and 9am until 7pm at weekends.
Among the Lib Dems to sign the letter was Kingston and Surbiton MP, Ed Davey.
Speaking about the matter, Ed Davey MP said: "The decision to reduce the 24/7 front desk service at Kingston Police Station is completely unacceptable.
"Many people, from both in and out of the borough, engage with Kingston's significant night-time economy.
"With reduced hours at Kingston Police Station's front counter, many people will feel as though their safety is not being prioritised, and that there will be nowhere to go in an emergency."
