The Kingston and Surbiton Green Party is hosting its first quiz night of the year on Saturday, 25 January in the Glass Room at St Andrew's Church in Surbiton from 7.45pm to 10.15pm.

The quiz will centre around local and international 2024 events, from sport, culture, and media and entertainment.

Talking to Kingston Nub about the quiz, Dr Debojyoty Das, Kingston and Surbiton Green Party campaigner said: "It is open to all. It's literally a fundraiser for the international charity Doctors Without Borders who are doing admirable work across the world and particularly in the Middle- East (Gaza) and the Kingston Green Party to support its activities for getting Greens elected to the council.

"We would very much welcome anybody who would like to attend. The space is accessible for wheelchairs."

The funds raised from the quiz raffle will be donated towards the international charity Doctors Without Borders who offer humanitarian medical care in conflicts such as Palestine and Syria.

The Green Party have also been opposing recent Thames Water plans to release treated Sewage into the Teddington River.

Dr Das added: "Thames Water have cut local people out of the debate - they've  bypassed local planning laws and taken the decision straight to Westminster."

The Green Party are advocating for the Labour Party to reintroduce the right to strike for public-sector workers, make solar panels compulsory on all suitable homes and end the no fault evictions by improving renters' rights.
