Kingston among London’s top five most entertaining boroughs, according to new study
By Tilly O'Brien 5th May 2026
A new study has ranked London's boroughs based on the entertainment facilities they have to offer, and Kingston has made the top five most entertaining boroughs.
The analysis, conducted by London student accommodation provider Chapter, looked at the number of bars, pubs, cinemas, theatres, bowling alleys, and mini-golf venues in each borough, adjusting for population size.
And ranking in fifth place was Kingston with Westminister taking the top spot and Camden coming in second place.
Also included in the top ten were Hackney (third), Southwark (fifth), Hammersmith and Fullham (sixth), Islington (seventh), Hounslow (eighth), Bromley (ninth), and Enfield (tenth).
However, the study also highlighted the boroughs that residents and visitors might find less entertaining.
Redbridge was ranked as the capital's least entertaining borough, with only 1.4 bars and 0.8 pubs per 10,000 people, among the lowest in the city.
Nearby Sutton and Waltham Forest followed closely behind, both offering limited access to cinemas, theatres, and nightlife venues, contributing to a quieter local scene.
The study noted that several of the lowest-ranked boroughs showed significantly reduced access to nightlife and cultural infrastructure compared with central and inner London.
In some cases, these areas have also seen closures or a decline in key leisure venues in recent years, contributing to fewer entertainment options locally.
The findings suggest that for many Londoners, access to things to do can depend heavily on staying closer to the city centre.
The analysis provides an interesting perspective on the discrepancies in entertainment options across the capital.
