The WP Times has worked out which of London's 32 boroughs are the best for families with children to live in and Kingston is among the top four.

It writes: "Choosing the right London borough is a critical decision for families planning to settle in the city in 2026. With over 30 boroughs, each offering different educational opportunities, housing costs, green spaces, and transport links, families must weigh multiple factors before relocating.

"Safety, school performance, and access to amenities like parks and healthcare facilities are especially important for households with children. Understanding these factors can help parents make informed decisions that balance quality of life with practical considerations.

"This guide examines the top London boroughs for families, compares options, and highlights essential local considerations for 2026, providing actionable insights for parents."

The WP Times added: "In London, boroughs like Richmond upon Thames, Wandsworth, and Kingston upon Thames are often favoured by parents due to high-performing schools, accessible green spaces, and family-oriented facilities. Understanding how borough services work helps parents plan effectively for their children's education and lifestyle."

So why did Kingston make the top four?

According to the news outlet, Kingston, which was ranked the best place in England for schools in June, has an excellent range of primary and secondary schools with high Ofsted results as well as some of the lowest crime rates in London.

However, it writes, "A family moving to Kingston upon Thames may prioritise excellent primary schools but find rental costs higher than expected."

Other limitations found for Kingston is its "longer commute to Central London" - clearly it has not taken the 20-minute train from Surbiton to London Waterloo.

Nevertheless, Kingston makes the top spot "due to high school ratings, family-friendly amenities, and safety records", according to The WP Times.

Also among the top four boroughs are nearby Richmond, Sutton, and Wandsworth, making South West London a desirable part of the capital.
