More than 300 local residents have signed up to take part in Kingston Hospital Charity's special memory walk, a Night to Remember, to raise money in support of their local hospital.

The event, which is taking place on the evening of Saturday 7 September, is Kingston Hospital Charity's third memory walk.

The event provides an opportunity for family, friends, and colleagues to come together and celebrate the lives of loved ones.

Those involved will walk a route of six and a half or 13 miles, starting and finishing at the ancient Market Place in Kingston.

Attendees have the option of raising money to help provide specialist support for families who have lost a child, delivered by an experienced bereavement psychologist.

Research shows that bereaved families are at a higher risk of mental and physical poor health and that psychological support is important in helping to improve this.

Alternatively, participants can opt to fundraise for a service or ward at the hospital that is close to their hearts.

Kingston Hospital Charity Director, Rob Aldous, said: "We're delighted so many people have signed up already and it would be wonderful if more of our community are able to get involved.

"It would be a great achievement to get to 400 entrants so we're encouraging as many people as possible to sign up over the next month."

"Everything we're able to achieve is thanks to our supporters so we remain most grateful to all who are taking part and actively fundraising in support of Kingston Hospital," he continued.

Anyone who would like to take part in the walk can apply here.

Registration for the event costs £20 for adults and £10 for children.

Each participant will receive a medal, glow sticks and refreshments.

Charitable donations to Kingston Hospital Charity help provide a quality of care that is over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.
