Home furnishings retailer to open new Kingston store this week
By Tilly O'Brien 23rd Jun 2026
UK home furnishings retailer, Dunelm, is opening a new store in Kingston on Thursday, 25 June - its second new-format London opening this financial year.
Welcoming shoppers from 9am, the store will take over the former Marks & Spencer building at 69 – 75 Clarence Street.
Spanning 34,000 sq ft across two floors, Dunelm says "the store has been designed to feel like a true home inspiration destination – with beautifully styled displays across every department that bring products to life and help customers picture them in their own homes".
It will showcase Dunelm's latest ranges across Bedding, Curtains, Made‑to‑Measure, Kitchen, Storage, Lighting, Bathroom, Blinds, Tracks & Poles, Decorative Accessories and more.
To celebrate the grand opening, the store will be officially launched with a ribbon cutting ceremony before the doors open to the public at 9am. The first 50 customers through the door will receive an exclusive goody bag worth £20.
On Thursday morning, Dunelm will also be hiding 20 gift cards around Kingston town centre for locals to find – each worth anything from £5 to £50. Customers who find a gift card can simply bring the card in-store to discover how much they have won.
The store also features a newly designed Pausa café - a modern, comfortable space to relax and refuel during a visit.
Dunelm said: "With the store opening just ahead of the summer holidays, the Pausa café is also the perfect pit stop for families – with kids eating free throughout the school holidays and beyond."
Meanwhile, new self-checkouts will offer a faster, more convenient way to pay, while a dedicated Click & Collect hub gives customers a clear, convenient space to pick up their orders.
Free Click & Collect in as little as two hours will be available from day one, with dedicated parking for customers collecting bulky orders or purchasing larger items.
As part of Dunelm's ongoing national charity partnership with Age UK, it has also helped to refresh the local Age UK Richmond's Wellbeing Centre ahead of launch.
The Kingston store team donated a range of Dunelm products, including bespoke window treatments created by Dunelm's Made to Measure service, to transform space used for a variety of services supporting older people in the borough.
Abi Stokes, Fundraising and Project Manager at Age UK Richmond said: "We are incredibly grateful to Dunelm for transforming a dated room into a warm and welcoming space.
"It has made a real difference for our clients, helping them feel more at ease when accessing support, and has also created a valuable, versatile area for our team. We're absolutely delighted with the result."
The store opening is also expected to create 48 new jobs in the local area.
Amanda Cox, Chief Operations Officer at Dunelm said: "We're extremely excited to bring Dunelm to Kingston. This is a landmark location for us – taking on such a well-known site in the heart of the town centre and transforming it into a destination for home inspiration.
"We can't wait to welcome customers when we open our doors on 25 June."
Deepika Roka, Store Coach at Dunelm Kingston added: "It's been fantastic to see the store come together.
"We've got an incredible team in place and we're ready to make Dunelm Kingston a real destination for local shoppers. Whether you're after everyday essentials or something a little more special for your home, there's something here for everyone."
Local shoppers can stay up to date with in-store news, events, and exclusive offers by joining the Dunelm Kingston Community Support Group on Facebook. Members will also unlock an exclusive offer in the Kingston Pausa café when joining.
