Hollyfield School students achieve 'wonderful' GCSE and BTEC results

Students at Hollyfield School achieved "wonderful" GCSE and BTEC results today.

72.41% of students achieved five GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including in English and Maths.

55.17% achieved five GCSEs at grade 5 or higher, including in English and Maths.

In Further Maths, Textiles, PE and Drama, over 90% of students achieved grades 4-9.

Over a third of students achieved grades 7 and above at GCSE in History, PE, Philosophy, Music, Maths, Further Maths, and Statistics.

In Maths, Philosophy, and Physics, over 20% of students achieved a grade 8 or higher.

This figure was closer to 30% in Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science.

In PE, Art, Drama, Music, Computer Science, Philosophy, Maths and the Separate Sciences, over 65% of students achieved a grade 5 or higher.

In addition to the success of the whole year group, there were some outstanding results for individual students.

Adam Zighem achieved seven grade 9s, two 8s, one grade 7, and a grade 6.

He said that he felt "excited and relieved" when he saw his results, and he advised next year's Year 11 to be consistent with their learning and revision throughout the year.

Brian Hartley was awarded seven grade 9s, three 8s and a 7.

He plans to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing at Hollyfield next year.

He said he "achieved the best results in the subjects he enjoyed the most".

Hei Lam Fung, Arthur Abrams and Naseem Abasov each achieved five grade 9s.

Zachary Summers took home five grade 9s, six 8s and two grade 7s.

He said he was "delighted" with his results and felt "happy and relieved".

Oliver A'Court achieved four grade 9s, three 8s, two 7s and a grade 5, while Mabel Radford earned three grade 9s, five 8s, one 7, and two grade 6s.

Furthermore, Ian Fairhurst achieved four grade 9s, three 8s, two 7s and two 6s.

He said: "I am especially happy with my results in Geography and Physics."

50% of BTEC students were awarded Merit grades or higher.

57% of BTEC Music Technology and 87% of BTEC Media Studies results were Merits or Distinctions.

The school's Head of Year 11, Mr Esmond, said: "I am really proud of the hard work put into the last two years from all our year 11s.

"There are some wonderful results for work put into the last two years from all our year 11s and for many who have opened doors to their post-16 pathways."

He continued: "I wish the best of luck to all students moving away from Hollyfield and look forward to seeing those who are staying in September."

Mr Buckman, Assistant Headteacher KS4, said: "I'm delighted to pass on my many congratulations to all of Year 11 for the excellent results they have received this year.

"It is a testament to the hard work and dedication they have put into their studies and the high aspirations they set for themselves."

He continued: "I wish all those who go onto new pastures the very best for the future, and for those who are joining our Sixth Form, I look forward to welcoming you back.

Headteacher Amy Jackson said: "Well done and congratulations to all of our students who are receiving their GCSE and BTEC results today.

"We're very proud of you all. As always, thanks to our parental community for all of their support along the way."
